About

I'm Carmine. I live in Zurich, I work in analytics, and I lead a small team of data analysts by day. Outside work I run marathons, race HYROX, have a soft spot for backyard ultras, and coach a running club. I do my admin in Italian, English and German, usually in that order of confidence.

This site exists because I kept running the same kind of analysis on my own life and never writing it down. What a late hard session does to that night's HRV. What a franc buys you in protein at Migros versus McDonald's. Whether a taper actually shows up in resting heart rate or only in my head. If it can be measured, it ends up in a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheets that turn out to say something end up here.

Some of what is here is about the numbers. Some of it is the tools I needed to get at them, because the data was sitting in an app with no export button. Both count.

A note on how things get made. I run a personal Claude Code setup that handles a lot of my admin and side projects. Some of the tools described here were written by it under my direction, and some posts start as its draft of a conversation we had. Where that is the case the post says so. Everything published is read, checked and signed off by me, and the mistakes are mine.

No newsletter, no schedule. I write when something is genuinely figured out, which is once or twice a month at most. If a post is useful to you, or wrong, the best place to tell me is GitHub.
